About Us

Angela Smith and Scott Shakir have collaborated on a number of theatrical productions for children of elementary age while teaching at Sparta Public School.  Scott and Angelas
Productions included Annie Jr., Aladdin Jr., Twinderella, Thoroughly Modern Millie Jr., and The Jungle Book for Kids.  During CharACTer Curtain Calls’ first season, a successful Aladdin Jr. was staged. And most recently, Willy Wonka Jr. performances were staged at the Port Stanley Festival Theatre.

Angela is currently a primary teacher at Sparta P.S., while Scott retired from a teaching career at Sparta P.S. in June, 2015.  They decided to start
CharACTer Curtain Calls so that students in the area have the opportunity to be exposed to the excitement of live theatre.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to advance education in the field of dramatic arts, by offering structured classes and events to children and youth, and by providing opportunities for these students to publicly exhibit, present, or perform dramatic works to develop their skills in conjunction with these learning activities.
